Smok Stick V8 Review

When I started vaping I began with a basic Ego-T kit. Pretty basic and simple stuff; it had absolutely no power adjustment or anything that was even remotely like that on the battery. It wasn’t very long after I began vaping that there were those spinner batteries where you would twist the bottom in order to adjust the output voltage. Let the truth be known, I didn’t have many of them  because I had soon moved on to the mech mods and genesis atomizers, Then, not much time went by and I made the decision that I would try out a few of the many regulated box mods that were starting to pop up on the market. I guess you could say I was mainly using regulated devices in all the glorious different shapes and sizes, except for those tube shaped things. Now I guess it’s about time that I give one a fair try.

As of late, quite a few of these kits that have the tube shaped batteries have been released. They’ve got just one button, there’s no power adjustment, and they need just need five clicks to turn them on or off. Some of them are quite big as well, like 22-25 mm diameter, and many come with a crazy sub-ohm tanks in the kit as well. It is said that some of them are like an ego battery on steroids, combined with a kick-ass tank which has a normal 510 connection. When one might come to think of it, the five clicks on/off and the basic shape is most likely what’s left of the Ego heritage. The Smok Stick V8 kit which I’m reviewing now is one of those kits. Its name definitely makes you think of nice big car engine – so you would expect some serious power from this one, wouldn’t ya think?

Look and feel

The kit is comes in 7 different colors. I went ahead and picked up the black one, which I think looks really cool. The device without a doubt feels solid, and there’s no button rattling whatsoever. The airflow control is nice and smooth. It’s not too loose and not too tight. Overall this is a great looking tube-style kit that appears to be well built. In use

Indeed, the Smok V8 kit is very easy to use. The mod has just one button and it makes use of the standard but effective five clicks to turn it on and off. The V8 has an intelligent battery indicator system that according to the manufacturer Smok, will make the ring that’s around the fire button flash four times when you take a puff and fifteen times when the battery is below 3.3V and needs a charge. From my experience, the battery seems to last the whole day.

The Baby Beast tank is setup with Smok’s fantastic swivel action top fill system as do all TFV tanks, and it works great. The device is easy to refill when you are on the go, and there’s absolutely no risk at all of possibly fumbling and having your top-cap wind up in the in the toilet. For the record, this has never happened to me. The airflow control is buttery- smooth, and the tank is super- easy to take apart when it’s time for cleaning and changing coils.

To be honest, this thing actually performs quite well. Battery output will depend on the current state of charge of the battery which is said to range from 4.2 to 3.4 V. The device has a 20A continuous discharge limit and it will give you 30-45W. The battery gives the perfect amount of power for the included V8 Baby-M2 Core coils which have been specially designed for this output system. You will for sure get a lot of vapor and incredible flavor from this setup, and the battery time is superb.

The 0.15 Ohm head is designed to give you bigger clouds of course, and the 0.25 will provide you with more of the best flavor. I must say that I am impressed by how well this kit performs both when it comes to vapor flavor.

If you’ve picked up the new Smok V8, e-liquids from Halo would without a doubt be the perfect pairing for this device. There are several flavors that you can choose from which include Twisted Turnover, Tribeca, Kringle’s Curse, and Mystic Menthol. These premium  American- made e-liquids will surely stand-out and not disappoint. Halo e-juices are available at Cactus Vape for just AUD $24.95 (30 ml).
